Newcastle United have been linked with a move to sign Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic, but Dean Jones claims that Marcus Thuram is much higher on their priority list.
The Magpies have been one of the best teams in the country this season. They’re currently third in the table and are the only side in the Premier League this campaign to stop league leaders Arsenal from scoring.
Eddie Howe’s side could achieve something really special this term, and Thuram could make a big difference.

Newcastle would rather sign Marcus Thuram than Cristian Pulisic in January
The Daily Mail revealed over a month ago that Newcastle are battling Manchester United and Arsenal to sign Pulisic, who had a very decent World Cup with the USMNT.
The American, even though things haven’t really worked out for him at Chelsea, is still a fine talent, and he would be a sensational signing for a club like Newcastle.
However, despite all the rumours over the last month or so, Jones has revealed that Pulisic isn’t high on the priority list. Borussia Monchengladbach star Thuram is apparently much more of a wanted man in this month’s transfer window.
Jones told GiveMeSport: “I would personally say that Marcus Thuram is currently ahead of Pulisic at this moment in time in terms of a priority list.
“That’s partly because he’s actually available and more realistic in financial terms.”
Thuram has entered the final six months of his contract at Monchengladbach, and reports have revealed that he’s available for just £10 million this month.

TBR View:
One of Newcastle’s biggest strengths this season has been their defence.
The Magpies have the best defensive record in the entire Premier League, having conceded just 11 goals in 18 games. That’s the biggest reason why they are where they are in the table, but they could do with a little help at the other end of the pitch.
Thuram, branded as a ‘phenomenal’ player, has scored 13 goals and provided four assists in 17 appearances for Gladbach this season. That is an excellent return, and it’s no surprise at all that he’s a wanted man.
Monchengladbach would sure love to see Thuram extend his contract, but that doesn’t look like it will happen. That means this is their last chance to make some money off his sale, and a cheeky bid for Newcastle could well get a deal done in the coming weeks.
