Report: Newcastle have held positive talks over Marcus Thuram deal
Newcastle are the Premier League side who are showing the most concrete interest in Marcus Thuram, with 90min reporting that the Magpies have held positive talks with his representatives ahead of the January transfer window.
Eddie Howe’s men picked up where they left off before the World Cup break on Boxing Day. They thrashed Leicester 3-0 at the King Power Stadium to move up to second in the Premier League table.
And with that, some will be even more hopeful that Newcastle will strengthen next month with a massive opportunity now on the horizon for the club.
Newcastle hold positive talks over Thuram
90min reports that Newcastle want a right-back, midfielder and striker in the window. And it seems that they are working on a potential move for Thuram.
Thuram has told Borussia Monchengladbach that he is not signing a new deal with his current contract up at the end of the season.
There is interest from Inter Milan, who want to sign the Frenchman on a pre-contract deal. However, Monchengladbach would rather sell him for a fee next month. And they are looking for around £10 million.
There is a lot of attention from the Premier League. 90min names Arsenal, Aston Villa, Tottenham and Manchester United as clubs who have all spoken to his representatives.
However, the report names Newcastle as the side showing the most concrete interest in the Premier League. They have held talks with his agents. And they are ready to make a move in January if he is keen to join.
Thuram has been in outstanding form so far this season. He has already scored 10 goals in the Bundesliga. And he played his part in France reaching the World Cup final in Qatar.
He is a ‘phenomenal‘ talent available for such a low price. And if Newcastle can do a deal for just £10 million, it could prove to be an absolutely inspired piece of business.
