Report: 54-cap title-winner is now Newcastle's priority signing if they make the Champions League

Newcastle United are being linked with a move for Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar this weekend, with the defender’s future once again in doubt.

Skriniar is a name that seems to come up almost every window in England. However, more recent talk has seen him linked with Tottenham and a reunion with Antonio Conte in north London. PSG are also thought to be keen on the Slovakian, while Chelsea have also put the feelers out as well.

However, a report from Calciomercato this weekend has seen Newcastle now being linked with Skriniar as well.

Interestingly, their report says Newcastle are actually at the front of the queue to sign the 27-year-old, although it could rely on them qualifying for the Champions League. The Magpies are said to have made Skriniar a priority signing and could offer him a big contract to move to the northeast.

Skriniar’s arrival would give Newcastle a partnership at the back of he and Sven Botman. And with both players so coveted in recent windows, they’d be the envy of many sides.

Skriniar has won 54 caps for his country and got his hands on the Serie A title. He has been a regular all this season for Inter, captaining them on five occasions as well.

TBR’s View: Skriniar to Newcastle would turn heads

This would be quite the signing from Newcastle United. Milan Skriniar has been one of the best defenders in Europe for some time now and he’d be a coup.

There will be a big scramble to sign him as we know. But Newcastle are going places under PIF and Eddie Howe and there is a belief within the club that they can land big players.

Skriniar instantly improves the XI as well. And alongside Botman, as mentioned, it gives them a fearsome back two.
