Chelsea have reportedly held a meeting with the agents of Inter Milan defender, Milan Skriniar, according to reports from Italy.

Skriniar is seen as one of Serie A’s best defenders. He’s impressed ever since making the move to Inter from Sampdoria for around £30m.

We already know Tottenham are keen on signing Skriniar. Reports over the summer had seen the Slovakian defender emerge as a major target for Spurs after they missed out on Alessandro Bastoni. And now, according to FC Inter News, Chelsea appear to be making their presence known.

FC Inter claims that Chelsea have made contact with the agents and representatives of Skriniar. It comes as Todd Boehly plans to make big investment in January and back his new manager, Graham Potter.

Alongside Bastoni at Inter, Skriniar has formed a partnership many in Europe are envious of. Despite not being at the World Cup, the defender is still seen as a star of the European game.

Naturally, Chelsea’s interest here will alert Tottenham. Given how long Spurs have tracked him for, it will be interesting to see if Conte and Paratici make their own move.

TBR’s View: Skriniar improves Chelsea and Tottenham

There are certain defenders in the game that improve any team and Milan Skriniar is one of those players.

He has been a class act with Inter. He was labelled as ‘monumental‘ after impressing against Liverpool and that description is fitting for Skriniar.

For Chelsea and Tottenham, this is a player they both can’t afford to miss out on. There is an argument that Spurs are more in need, given Chelsea did sign Wesley Fofana and have the likes of Thiago Silva and Trevor Chalobah.

Certainly, if Skriniar is going to be available, then Tottenham need to make sure they’re a big name in the deal.
