Report: Tottenham now want to sign 'monumental' player as Romero partner for club-record fee

Tottenham could be about to reignite their interest in Inter Milan defender, Milan Skriniar, according to a report from Il Messaggero.

The report from the Italian outlet, as relayed by Sport Witness, claims PSG have withdrawn their interest in Skriniar and that has left the door open for Tottenham to move for him again. Of course, Spurs have admired Skriniar for some time now. It was only a month or so ago that reports claimed Spurs were keen on the Slovakian star, although a club-record fee would be needed for them to sign him.

Skriniar has been one of the standout performers for Inter over the last few seasons. The defender was part of the title-winning team Antonio Conte led to glory in Serie A, and is seen as one of Europe’s best on his day.

Described as a ‘monumental‘ player for his performance against Liverpool recently, Skriniar would surely be the final piece of the jigsaw for Tottenham this summer. The club have spent around £100m so far but are expected to keep pushing ahead with new signings.

Should Spurs move for Skriniar, it would indicate they have some sales lined up as well. The likes of Harry Winks, Sergio Reguilon, and more are expected to be sold.

TBR’s View: Skriniar Would Seriously Improve Tottenham

When you talk about signing players who might take you to the next level, Milan Skriniar is one of those players.

Tottenham have done well this window but they’ve not really added that world-class, ready-made player to the ranks as yet. The signings have been good, but Skriniar is on a level that would take the entire first XI higher.

If Spurs and Paratici can pull this one off, then the idea of Romeo and Skriniar at the back would make the club the envy of many in the league.
