Newcastle could try to sign ‘superstar’ forward if Miguel Almiron is sold

Newcastle United have endured an interesting yet frustrating transfer window, and a fan favourite in Miguel Almiron could be set to leave.

Newcastle rejected a bid from Almirom from MLS side Charlotte FC this week, with the Toon intent on keeping hold of the Paraguay international heading into the new Premier League season this weekend.

With Al-Shabab also interested in Almiron, there’s a real chance that Newcastle could allow the forward to leave if a tempting enough offer is made in the final weeks of the window for the former Atlanta United star.

And in such an event, Newcastle are now eyeing a move for an exciting replacement.

Newcastle eye Federico Chiesa as replacement for Almiron

According to TuttoJuve, Newcastle are preparing a €20m (£17m) bid to sign Italy international Federico Chiesa as a potential replacement for Almiron this summer.

Chiesa has been linked with Newcastle this summer, as well as Arsenal and Tottenham, with the Juventus winger extremely likely to end up in the Premier League in the final weeks of the transfer window.

Yet with the Toon now preparing a bid for Chiesa in the event that Almiron leaves, there’s a real chance that Newcastle could end up winning the race to sign the former ACF Fiorentina star.

Indeed, Chiesa would be a perfect replacement for Almiron in almost every possible way, and if the Paraguay international does leave in the coming days, Newcastle will need to move fast for the Juventus winger.

Chiesa could be one of Newcastle’s best signings in years

After the PIF takeover of Newcastle, the Magpies’ ambition when it comes to new signings has hit new levels of ambition not seen in decades, and Chiesa could be one of the best incoming the northeast side make in years.

Although injuries have been a problem for Chiesa, the Italian forward is still one of the best in the world in his position, with Italian media praising the 26-year-old attacker as a ‘superstar’ in the European game.

At Newcastle, Chiesa would be an incredible attacking outlet alongside Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon, and the Italian could complete Eddie Howe’s front-line in their bid to return to Europe.
