Victor Osimhen wants to join Chelsea

Well – according to Calcio Napoli 24 – Arsenal have made contact with Napoli to enquire about the Nigeria international, as Mikel Arteta aims to sign a quality striker this summer.

Now – however – Obi Mikel has claimed that Osimhen wants to join Chelsea.

Speaking at the Web Summit Qatar, the 36-year-old said: “He loves the club. He wants to come to the club. He wants to follow my footsteps as a Nigerian player who has played for Chelsea. He’s looked at that, London as well – fantastic city – instead of going to places like Liverpool or somewhere like that.”

Whoever signs Osimhen would be getting themselves one of the best strikers on the planet.

The 25-year-old scored 31 goals in 39 appearances last season to fire Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years.

Osimhen – who Napoli signed from Lille for €81.3m (£70m) back in July 2020 – has been prolific once again this term with 13 goals in 21 games.

Forget Arsenal and Chelsea – there is one European giant outside of London who could end up beating both Arteta and Mauricio Pochettino to Osimhen.

PSG are believed to be keen on signing the Nigerian as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe – according to the Telegraph – after the Frenchman announced his decision to leave on a free transfer this summer.

The Parisians are one of the richest clubs on the planet, so financially, Arsenal and Chelsea may struggle to outbid the French giants in the race to sign Osimhen.

Napoli are believed to want £112m to sell their talisman.
