Journalist says Tottenham have added Arsenal-linked Victor Osimhen to their wish list, he's willing to leave
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is a wanted man this summer – not just by Arsenal but their fierce North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur as well.
The Nigerian has been one of the best strikers in the Serie A since his big-money move from Lille in 2020. Osimhen, despite a cheekbone fracture that kept him out for almost two months, managed to score 18 goals and provide six assists in all competitions last season, which is an excellent return for someone who is still only 23 years old.
Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, Newcastle and Manchester United over the last few months, and it now looks like Tottenham have added his name to their wish list.
That’s according to Italian journalist Lorenzo Amuso, who claims that Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has ‘obtained great guarantees’ about summer transfers from the Spurs board.
Tottenham want to sign Victor Osimhen and he’s willing to leave Napoli
Amuso told CalcioMercato.it: “Conte, thanks to his Champions League position, has obtained great guarantees on the market. So, we can expect really great things from Tottenham.
“Among the names combined, there is also Osimhen of Napoli. Tottenham is not the only club that has taken an interest. Arsenal has already presented a €60 million (£51.2m) offer rejected by De Laurentiis (Napoli owner).
“(Manchester) United has already announced a half revolution, if Osimhen will return to his plans will also depend on compatibility with Cristiano Ronaldo.
“They are all teams, including Newcastle, who can satisfy Napoli’s requests and it seems to me that the boy is also willing to leave.”
Arsenal had a bid rejected just a few days ago
Just five days ago, it was claimed that Arsenal, who are on the lookout for a new striker following Alexandre Lacazette’s departure, had tabled a bid to sign Osimhen from Napoli.
The Gunners’ opening offer was reported to be around £51.2 million, but that was rejected immediately by Napoli, who are looking for a lot more money than what Edu apparently offered them.
TMW claim that De Laurentiis has slapped a £86 million (€100m) asking price on Osimhen, who still has three full years left on his contract at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in Naples.
If either Tottenham or Arsenal meet that asking price, they will end up smashing their transfer record, which currently stands at £53.8 million for Tanguy Ndombele and £72 million for Nicolas Pepe respectively.
