Jamie O’Hara has realised how good ‘fantastic’ Nottingham Forest star actually is

Jamie O’Hara is now beginning to understand the fanfare surrounding one of Nottingham Forest’s most influential players.

Ange Postecoglou is under immense pressure at the City Ground – he is winless in his opening seven matches in all competitions since replacing Nuno Espirito Santo.

As revealed by TBR Football, Evangelos Marinakis is considering Postecoglou’s future and is weighing up a potential move for Fulham boss Marco Silva.

Indeed, Forest sit one point above the relegation zone heading into the international break, having failed to replicate the phenomenal form displayed in the East Midlands last season.

However, there is a player who is enjoying a breakout campaign at the club, and ex-Tottenham man O’Hara now realises the reason behind the rave reviews.

Elliot Anderson is the man of the moment for Nottingham Forest

When speaking live on talkSPORT after England’s convincing 3-0 win over Wales, O’Hara heaped praise on breakout star Elliot Anderson.

“How good is Elliot Anderson? I watched him at Nottingham Forest, and he’s a good player, but he’s come into the England team, and I’m watching him, going he’s absolutely fantastic.

“He gets on the ball. He makes things happen. He presses from the front. He anticipates where the ball’s going to drop. The amount of second balls that he won just by anticipating where he’s, you know, where he thought the ball was going to be. He’s sharper than everyone else. What a player.”

The pundit is not alone in taking note of the midfielder’s performances, as TBR Football understands Liverpool are interested in Anderson, although Forest have informed any interested parties that the player is not for sale.

Anderson has excelled since arriving at Forest in a £35 million deal with Newcastle United last year. He established himself as an important player under Nuno, playing an integral role in helping his team secure European football for the first time since 1996.

Thomas Tuchel has given the 22-year-old his chance in the senior national squad on the back of those performances, and now Anderson is widely regarded as one of England’s brightest prospects.

He has been called up for England during both international breaks this season and is in a fantastic position to be named in the 2026 World Cup squad if he maintains his performance levels throughout the campaign.

Thomas Tuchel is pleased with Elliot Anderson

Although the England boss reserved his praise for other members of his squad after the win against Wales, he has not hidden from his admiration of Anderson.

He made his debut in September during the 2-0 win against Andorra and Tuchel revealed that the player was ready to make his first start for the senior side.

“He’s just a very good football player,” Tuchel said in his post-match interview. “He has a physicality, a very mobile six, the body — he loves to defend, he loves to put his body inside to win duels, he loves passing, loves to break the lines.

“It was a pleasure to see. It was a bit of a nervous start to the week, which was also nice to see that not everything is normal for the guys, that they are still nervous when they come to camp and are not afraid to admit it. But very quickly, he adapted and we thought, ‘Why not? Let’s give him his debut straightaway’. It was a very strong performance.”
