'It's unbelievable': Declan Rice shares what he thinks of Bukayo Saka after seeing him in England training
The 21-year-old winger has been fantastic all season, and marked his first game in the biggest tournament in world football with a brace.
The pair are set to play a huge role for England in Qatar and for the Three Lions for years to come.
There were a number of outstanding performances in England’s opening World Cup game.
Saka’s composure for both of his goals is rare for someone as young as he is.
The winger waited and waited to strike his shot for the first goal, and chose the perfect moment to shoot through a sea of bodies for the second.
Rice has now said that he thinks Saka is unbelievable, and always looks so happy in training.
He’s got plenty of competition for his spot in Gareth Southgate’s side.
But Saka’s enjoyment of training with England may come down to knowing he’s got that starting role.
Saka is always so happy in training
The West Ham United captain spoke to the Evening Standard about the Arsenal star and said: “It’s unbelievable what he’s done.
“It says everything about his strength of character. You saw what happened last summer, everyone was with him then.
“He is flourishing with Arsenal, he is playing with a smile on his face.
“You see him around the training ground, he is the happiest person around the place. We are all so happy for him.”
Rice wasn’t the only one of Saka’s teammates to praise the young Arsenal winger.
England fans will be pleased that Saka is always so happy in training.
His work behind-the-scenes at Arsenal might have played a part yesterday too.
A video of Mikel Arteta coaching the exact technique that Saka used for his second goal has now been found.
The 21-year-old is clearly absorbing everything he’s taught and England and Arsenal are reaping the benefits.
