'I'm told': Everton and Newcastle both scouted giant £18m striker last weekend - Sky journalist
The report from Sky Sports suggests that the giant striker is available for £18m, and eight Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on the 28-year-old.
West Ham were previously credited with interest in the Frenchman in January, but a move never materialised.
The 6ft 6in striker wasn’t on the scoresheet against the Community Shield winners, but he provided an assist for strike partner Habib Diallo, winning the ball back in a dangerous area from a wayward pass.
Everton and Newcastle among clubs scouting Ajorque
Sky Sports haven’t identified a frontrunner in the race for Ajorque, but there’s no shortage of clubs who need another striker option.
Given Newcastle’s resources in the transfer market, it would be a surprise if any of the clubs interested in Ajorque could match what they would be able to offer if they’re keen to sign the Frenchman.
Ajorque scored 12 Ligue 1 goals last season, although his form dipped after Christmas, only adding three goals and three assists to his tally in 19 matches.
The left-footed forward is a hard-working player off the ball, a useful target man, and capable of ‘deadly finishing’ inside the box.
According to FBRef, Ajorque was in the top 10 per cent of forwards playing in Europe’s top 5 leagues for tackles won and aerial duels won.
Frank Lampard’s side are also keen on bringing in a striker, and Ajorque joins Michy Batshuayi as a possible incoming at Goodison Park.
