Report: Everton have now make move to sign PL striker, Lampard thinks he’s a ‘quality’ player
Everton are looking to bolster boss Frank Lampard’s attacking options and 90 Min reports that the club are now in talks to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.
The Toffees have stepped up their efforts in the transfer market over the past week, having signed Dwight McNeil and Ruben Vinagre in recent days.
Lampard had only managed to add James Tarkowski on a free transfer beforehand but the club are now moving their dealings up a gear.
Now, Everton look to be going for Batshuayi and Lampard has actually managed the striker at his old club Chelsea before.
Everton in talks to sign Batshuayi
The club are going for a permanent deal for the 28-year-old and are attempting a double swoop for him and Ross Barkely.
Chelsea are looking to decrease their wage bill and it looks like Everton are aiming to benefit from this.
Lampard thinks Batshuayi is a ‘quality’ player
Lampard managed Batshuayi during his spell at Chelsea three seasons ago and told the club’s official website that he thinks the striker is ‘quality’.
“It was interesting to see not just the player – I kind of knew the quality Michy had and it’s always good to see that up close – but also the personality,” he said.
“Since early season, how he’s trained, his demeanour, his positivity, and quality when he’s come on, which is obviously the most important thing, have been top class.”
It’s clear that the Everton boss is a big fan of the player and having managed him at the Blues, he knows exactly what Batshuayi will bring to Goodison Park.
After losing Richarlison to Spurs this summer, it’s key that Everton fill the void the Brazilian has left and Lampard is turning to a player he knows well.
The Belgian striker has struggled at Chelsea and been sent out on loan various times to clubs such as Crystal Palace, Valencia and most recently Besiktas.
Batshuayi clearly needs a permanent move away from the West London club and playing under a manager that rates him as highly as Lampard does could be a clever move for the player.
