Newcastle interested in Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis - journalist

Journalist Ben Jacobs has reported on Twitter that Newcastle United are one of the Premier League sides interested in signing Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis this summer.

The Magpies are still on the hunt for a new attacking player in this window. Reports claimed that they are in talks to sign Timo Werner on loan, while they have also made a bid for James Maddison.

But they are keeping their options open. And according to Jacobs, one of the players they are looking at is Dennis.

Unsurprisingly, Dennis is wanted by a number of Premier League teams. Reports have suggested that West Ham and Everton want the 24-year-old. He is hoping to leave Vicarage Road this summer, with a fee of £20 million mooted.

But the pair will have to see off competition from Newcastle, with Eddie Howe keen on the Nigeria international.

Dennis would be a really smart signing for Newcastle if they could bring him to Tyneside. He scored 10 goals in the top-flight last year in a Watford side ultimately unable to keep themselves in the top-flight.

He also provided six assists. And the Hornets’ relegation ultimately opens the door for a potential bargain.

He is a ‘very talented‘ player with bags of pace. And his arrival would not eat up too much of Howe’s remaining budget ahead of the final stages of the window.

Obviously, the supporters will hope for a marquee move before the window shuts. But signing Dennis would also have the potential to be an inspired move if possible.
