Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in recent months, but the Nigerian has now revealed that he wants to stay in Naples.

The Gunners currently have Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette as their only natural strikers. Both players are set to depart when their contracts expire this summer, leaving Mikel Arteta’s men in desperate need of at least one new forward, if not two.

Arsenal have been linked with plenty of big names over the last few months. From Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Gabriel Jesus in the Premier League to Darwin Nunez and Alexander Isak in Europe, it’s clear that they’re looking at multiple top quality strikers.

Osimhem, however, is many fans’ preferred option, but it looks like the Nigerian has already decided what he’s going to do this summer.

The striker told Radio Kiss Kiss, as quoted by Football Italia: “Spalletti is a top manager and, along with his staff, they really helped me to improve my movement.

“I hope to stay and continue on this road with the manager in the next few years.

“For a few months now, I’ve felt completely fine.

“I want to end the season as well as possible and can promise fans we will fight for the Scudetto next season.”

Blow for the Gunners

Arteta needs a top-quality centre-forward this summer. He has to sign someone who can not only drop deep and link play up like Lacazette does, but also run in behind and cause problems on the break.

Osimhen is perfect for that. The Nigerian, who has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season, is an incredible striker, and the fact that he’s still only 22 means he will only get better.

Reports from Italy suggested this week that Arsenal are prepared to smash their transfer record for Osimhen. It has been claimed that Edu and Arteta are willing to spend £90 million to sign the Napoli star, which shows just how much the Gunners like him.

Sadly, it looks like Osimhen has no interest in making the switch to the Emirates this summer.
