It has been a difficult start to the season for Chelsea, but Benoit Badiashile believes they have one “magic” player within the squad.
Enzo Maresca’s men ended their three-match run without a win on Tuesday by defeating Benfica by a goal to nil, ensuring Jose Mourinho’s return didn’t hurt them.
It was an own goal from Richard Rios that separated the two teams in what was a 1-0 win for the Blues, as Chelsea got their first three points on the board in the Champions League.
Several of Chelsea’s summer signings were on display, with Alejandro Garnacho playing a key role in the only goal of the game as it was his cross that ended up being put into the back of the net.
However, Badiashile had praise for a different new signing who has been delivering some exciting performances for the club.

Benoit Badiashile believes Estevao Willian will make a ‘big difference’ for Chelsea
Benoit Badiashile started his first game of the season for Chelsea against Benfica, as he is now ready to kickstart his individual campaign after a slow start due to injury.
However, that has allowed him to sit back and watch the squad in the opening run of games, getting to see the new signings settle into the club.
During a post-match interview with the press after the Benfica game, Badiashile had a lot of praise for Estevao Willian.
“Estevao is a magic player, he will be a big difference for us in the next few years. We are really happy to have him with us.
While Estevao has been dazzling Chelsea fans during his appearances in games, Badiashile was asked about the teenager’s efforts during training.
“He’s really good.”
Badiashile isn’t the only member of the Chelsea squad who has publicly praised the Brazilian, as Joao Pedro believes Estevao can be one of the world’s best.
Maresca himself has showered the winger with love during his interviews, having compared Estevao to Eden Hazard, and if he’s able to have a career close to that, then fans will be happy.
Estevao Willian looked bright against Benfica
Estevao might only be 18-years-old, but Chelsea have wasted no time giving him plenty of opportunities in the first team, with Maresca clearly believing in him.
He has already made eight appearances this season for the Blues, picking up one assist so far, with the teenager having shown plenty of brilliant moments.
Estevao came off the bench against Benfica in midweek and lit up Stamford Bridge with some unbelievable touches and dribbling moments as he showed his tricky skills.
| Match Stats | Estevao |
| Minutes Played | 36 |
| Accurate Passes | 9/12 (75%) |
| Successful Dribbles | 3/3 (100%) |
| Touches | 19 |
After joining Chelsea from Palmeiras for £29million, with a further £22million in add-ons, Estevao has shown that it could end up being a steal for the Blues.
