Arteta has now decided Arsenal will reject all bids for ‘extraordinary’ £20m player in January

Arsenal plan to reject any bids which come in for Jakub Kiwior during the January transfer window, with Mikel Arteta keen to not lose further depth in his defence.

That is according to a report from the Sunday Mirror (19/11; page 75), which notes that the likes of Roma and AC Milan are admirers of the Poland international.

Jakub Kiwior may be a little disappointed with how his first year at Arsenal has turned out. He arrived for £20 million during the most recent January window. Unfortunately, he has not been able to force his way into the side on a consistent basis.

Mikel Arteta to block Jakub Kiwior leaving Arsenal in January

Kiwior did not always impress when he featured for Arsenal during the run-in last season. And he has been an unused substitute for eight of the Gunners’ opening 12 games in the Premier League.

Reports from TVP Sport claimed that Mikel Arteta blocked Kiwior joining Sevilla on loan in the summer. And it seems that anyone who approaches the Gunners about a deal in the winter window is going to get a similar answer.

The Sunday Mirror (19/11; page 75) reports Arsenal plan to snub all bids for Kiwior in January. AC Milan and Roma are both keen on the 23-year-old. But it seems that no return to Serie A is on the cards anytime soon.

Gunners cannot afford to loan any first-team players out

The news may be frustrating to Kiwior. But the long-term injury to Jurrien Timber has really set the Gunners back.

Arsenal look set to fight for the Premier League title once again this season. So if anything, they will want to strengthen in January rather than allow players to leave on loan.

Perhaps the situation would be different if the ‘extraordinary‘ Kiwior was in line to leave permanently and net Arsenal a hefty fee. But a loan exit is hardly going to benefit the Gunners in the short-term. So you can understand Arteta’s stance.
