Arsenal fans react to Sam Johnstone enquiry reports

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from The Athletic claiming that the Gunners have made an enquiry for Sam Johnstone.

Signing a new goalkeeper appears to be a must for Mikel Arteta this summer. Mat Ryan’s loan was not extended. Alex Runarsson is looking set to leave.

Meanwhile, there has also been speculation surrounding Bernd Leno’s future at the Emirates.

And one of those on their radar is Johnstone. The England international is wanted by a number of Premier League sides.

The Athletic notes that West Ham have had a bid for the 28-year-old rejected. Tottenham meanwhile, also want the West Brom star.

According to the report, Arsenal have made an enquiry as they consider alternative targets to Aaron Ramsdale.

Despite being relegated last season, plenty of Gunners fans have taken to social media to suggest that they would welcome a move for Johnstone.

He was excellent for the Baggies. No goalkeeper in the top flight made more saves than Johnstone.

Some have implored Arteta and Edu to act before he heads elsewhere. They believe that he would be an excellent addition.
