Tottenham Hotspur were left to rue their poor start to a match once again yesterday, after fall to a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool.

Sloppy first-half defending once again cost Antonio Conte’s team as they were unable to pull off another second-half comeback.

Speaking to Viaplay Fotball, Conte reflected on his team’s performance.

Spurs have struggled to cope without several of their key attackers over the past few weeks.

Dejan Kulusevski was finally fit enough to return to the matchday squad, and made a difference off the bench.

However, Richarlison still wasn’t fit enough to play and Son Heung-min was missing after being injured in midweek against Marseille.

Conte has made it clear that he needs further reinforcements to his squad to compete against the league’s best sides.

Bryan Gil is expected to leave the club in January as long as a ready-made replacement comes in.

A report from Football London suggests that Spurs want ‘quality’ cover Kulusevski in January now.

Conte was asked about his relationship with Daniel Levy, as the pair will be the key people discussing potential arrivals at Spurs.

Conte discusses relationship with Levy

Speaking to Viaplay Fotball about whether Tottenham was a long-term project for him, Conte said: “I am happy with the club, I have a fantastic relationship.

“We are really close with Fabio (Paratici) and Daniel (Levy), but then I always like to be honest with the people, especially our fans because we need time and patience.

“I know that the fans want to win, and I can’t promise this at this moment because I think we have a path to go (on) and a process.

“You can’t jump on this process, this has to be very clear, and so for this reason we need to have patience.”

Daniel Levy in private has said that Conte is the best coach he’s ever worked with.

He’s very unlikely to go against his wishes if he wants to bring in further reinforcements in January.

Conte having a good relationship with Levy is also likely to lead to a new contract in the future.

Levy will want to secure Conte’s future at the club as he continues to transform the team.
