Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has heaped praise on Pedro Porro after he was called up to the Spain squad.
The 24-year-old had been out of his national team for almost a year. He wasn’t close to getting back in at the start of this season, but his brilliant performances over the last few months have got him the nod. Tottenham boss Postecoglou is delighted for him.

Ange Postecoglou says Tottenham’s Pedro Porro has been ‘outstanding all year’
Pedro Porro has been at Tottenham for over a year now, and his progression has been spectacular.
The £85,000-a-week (Spotrac) Spaniard was so heavily criticised in the second half of last season. Many people decided he just wasn’t good enough, but Porro has silenced them all.
Since the start of this season, the full-back has provided eight assists for Tottenham in all competitions. No other defender in the club’s history has managed more in a single season.
Ange Postecoglou is delighted with Porro and has heaped praise on him. He says the Spaniard has worked extremely hard in training to become the player he is today.
Speaking about Porro’s Spain call-up, Postecoglou told SpursPlay: “It’s brilliant and well deserved – he’s been outstanding all year.
“He’s worked awfully hard on his game on both the offensive and defensive side. We’ve obviously put some different demands on that position, but he’s adapted so well and credit to him, he’s worked really hard.
“He never let it get him down at any stage, the fact that he wasn’t part of the national team, I think it’s well-deserved and hopefully he gets an opportunity to show what he can do.

Pedro Porro has silenced his doubters
When Pedro Porro joined Tottenham from Sporting Lisbon last year, he found it difficult to adapt.
He came under enormous criticism from many people back then, especially Tim Sherwood, who branded him as ‘so bad it’s unbelievable’ after a disappointing display against Leicester.
Porro has come a long way since. Yes, he can still improve his defending, but he has had a truly incredible season so far and deserves all the praise he is getting.
Spain will face Colombia and Brazil in the upcoming international break, and Porro will be hoping to make a mark on the international stage. He definitely deserves an opportunity.
