David Ornstein has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur will end up signing Everton star Richarlison before the end of the summer transfer window.

The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move to both Arsenal and Spurs over the last few weeks. However, a recent report from Brazil claimed that the £65 million-rated striker has already rejected the Gunners and would much rather join Antonio Conte’s side instead.

Ornstein was asked about rumours surrounding Tottenham and the Everton attacker, and the journalist confirmed that there is genuine interest in the 25-year-old.

He then went on to claim that sources at Everton strongly believe Richarlison’s move to Spurs will go through towards the end of the transfer window.

David Ornstein has been told Richarlison will sign for Tottenham

Speaking on The Athletic UK’s YouTube channel, Ornstein said: “Yes, there is some interest from Tottenham, but no, they’re not in negotiations with Everton yet – that may follow, of course.

“At this point in time, Everton are setting an extremely high asking price for Richarlison. Tottenham won’t come to the level of finance that Everton would be looking for at this point.

“But, there are a number of people around the game who think that with Everton’s financial position, they may, as the window goes on, get squeezed into accepting a lower figure for him, and that’s when Tottenham might feel that they can pounce.

“And, when you speak to certain sources around Everton, they think this move will end up happening by the end of the transfer window.”

TBR View:

At first glance, it’s hard to imagine how Richarlison would even fit in at Tottenham.

Conte already has Harry Kane, Dejan Kulusevski and Son Heung-min up front, and that trio will begin the season as the undisputed first-choice front-three. Ivan Perisic is also at the club now and whenever the Croatian isn’t playing at left wing-back, he could feature higher up the pitch.

That makes you wonder why Spurs are even going after Richarlison, but signing the Brazilian would be a smart move. The 25-year-old can play anywhere across the front three, and with Spurs set to play a ton of games next season thanks to their return to the Champions League, they’ll need to manage the workload of their stars.

Richarlison, branded as a ‘special player’ by Davide Ancelotti, would be a three-in-one backup as he can fill in for Son, Kane or Kulusevski when required. He can potentially play as a wing-back if required too, which is probably why Tottenham are so keen to sign him this summer.
