'He can drive you mad': Harry Redknapp says player Spurs are in talks to sign really frustrates him sometimes
Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with a move for Everton star Richarlison this summer, and Harry Redknapp has now urged Frank Lampard to sell the Brazilian.
Reports revealed yesterday that Spurs are in advanced negotiations to sign the 25-year-old, who is very likely to leave Goodison Park after four years there.
Richarlison is arguably Everton’s best player. He has played 152 times for the Toffees in all competitions and has directly been involved in 67 goals, which is not bad at all.
It’s not ideal for Everton to lose a player as important as Richarlison, but Redknapp has urged Lampard to sell him this summer and buy two or three players from the money his sale will bring in.
Tottenham target Richarlison drives Harry Redknapp ‘mad’ sometimes
Speaking on talkSPORT, Redknapp said: “He [Richarlison] has got ability, there is no doubt about that.
“He can drive you mad though at times when you see him diving about, and whatever he gets up to.
“He can certainly play, though, and scores, and he has managed to get assists. But if Frank has no money to spend, he is going to have to sell. Sometimes you have to sell your best player to try and get two or three in.
“He [Lampard] needs to strengthen that team. That team that Everton have got at the moment, they are going to struggle. I am desperate for them [Everton] to do well, I kicked every ball with Frank this season, but I think they are going to be struggling again.”
Richarlison is definitely the type of player who can make you pull your hair out at times. Some of his antics can be really annoying – even if he’s on your own side.
However, the Brazilian is a fantastic player. He can play anywhere across the front three, works extremely hard for the team, and the fact that he’s still only 25 means he’ll only get better in the coming years.
Richarlison would be a really good signing for Tottenham, but Daniel Levy will have to splash big money to sign him. Reports have revealed that Everton have slapped a £65 million price tag on their star Brazilian, which means Spurs will have to smash their transfer record to bring him in.
It will be interesting to see how this pans out in the coming weeks.
