'World-class' player Arsenal reportedly want to buy scored stunning goal in the Champions League last night
Manchester City smashed five past Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League yesterday and Arsenal-linked Raheem Sterling scored a stunning goal.
Pep Guardiola’s side were the absolute favourites to win the game but Sporting aren’t too bad a side. A lot more was expected of them last night but City just blew them away.
The defending Premier League champions scored four past the hosts in the first half and there was no way back for the Portuguese giants from that point.
City inflicted further pain in the second half and it was Sterling with an absolute thunderbolt.
Arsenal-linked Raheem Sterling scores a stunning goal
The Daily Star revealed a couple of weeks ago that Manchester City are struggling to convince Sterling to sign a new deal.
The Englishman’s current contract expires in less than 18 months time and many clubs will keep an eye on his situation. The report claimed that City are prepared to reluctantly listen to offers for him in the summer and Arsenal are among the clubs interested in his services.
Mikel Arteta already knows how good Sterling is, having worked with him at the Etihad. If he needed any more convincing, the 27-year-old’s sensational strike from outside the box last night should do the trick.

The Insider’s View:
It really is no surprise that Arsenal are interested in Sterling.
The Englishman is a phenomenal player and Arteta knows better than most others how good he actually is. To add to that, he’s only just entering the prime years of his career and he could become even better in the next few seasons.
The report claimed that City would be prepared to accept as little as £50 million for Sterling in June and that is very affordable for Arsenal, who spent almost thrice as much last summer.
However, with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain all reportedly keen, the chances of Arteta luring the ‘world-class‘ Manchester City star in are extremely slim.
