Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil’s move away from the club has now collapsed at the very last minute, according to journalist Matteo Moretto.

Reports suggested this week that Gil was edging closer to a move back to Valencia.

Los Che boss Gennaro Gattuso hinted that Spurs needed to sign a replacement before giving the loan move the green light.

But now it seems that the 21-year-old will be staying in North London for the time being.

Gil’s move has collapsed

Football journalist Matteo Moretto reports that Gil’s flight to Mestalla ‘will not arrive’.

Instead, Valencia are now working on alternative options as the deal has seemingly broken down.

Gattuso’s men are looking at signing Timothy Weah or Justin Kluivert instead.

Gil spent the second half of last season on loan at Valencia and performed excellently in La Liga.

The Spanish U21 international has found playing time hard to come by under Antonio Conte and looked set to head out on loan this summer.

Spurs have been linked with several wingers over the past week and reports suggested that they were looking to sign a replacement should Gil leave.

But if reports are true that his move to Valencia has broken down, it could mean that Spurs have failed to sign a replacement.

Gil has been named a substitute twice this season but is yet to make an appearance during the current campaign.

It would have been ideal for the youngster to head back out on loan as he is unlikely get play regularly at Spurs this season.

The Spaniard was only brought into the club last summer but there are doubts over his suitability to Premier League football.

But if Spurs are unable to find a replacement, then Gil will be forced to stay and play a bit-part role until January at the earliest.
