Chelsea are back in the Champions League, but they won’t be eased into the competition with a simple fixture.
Enzo Maresca will take his side to Bavaria, as the Blues prepare for the challenge of Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
It’s a match steeped in history, with Chelsea’s win over Bayern Munich in the 2012 Champions League final marking a memorable moment for both clubs.
Now, over 13 years later, the two teams meet again, aiming to make it a season to remember in the continental competition.
Chelsea will be greeted by some old friends and foes, with Nicolas Jackson among those now on the opposite side of the matchup.
There has been some uncertainty, however, surrounding his eligibility for the Champions League clash.

Nicolas Jackson can play for Bayern Munich against Chelsea due to Champions League rule
Nicolas Jackson’s loan to Bayern Munich came with all sorts of drama attached, as there was uncertainty surrounding whether he would even make the move.
Liam Delap’s injury threw the deal into doubt, but there was eventually an agreement reached between all parties, sealing the move once and for all.

While clubs in the Premier League are unable to play loanees against their parent club, that isn’t the case in UEFA competitions.
According to the rules in the Champions League, Jackson will be available to play against Chelsea, which is a huge boost for Bayern, but a problem for the Blues.
It remains to be seen whether the Senegalese striker will feature or not, given the form of Harry Kane up front.
However, it could end up being a transfer decision from Chelsea that could haunt them.

How Nicolas Jackson performed on his Bayern Munich debut
Jackson made his debut for Bayern Munich in their 5-0 thrashing of Hamburg over the weekend, getting minutes from the bench.
He replaced Serge Gnabry at half-time, with the Bavarian outfit already holding a four-goal lead in the match.
It was a relatively quiet half for Jackson, who only managed the one shot on target and 25 touches of the ball.
Sofascore gave the Chelsea loanee a 6.0 rating for his display, but it may only be the starting point for him in his time at the club.
If Jackson gets a chance against Chelsea, he’ll have a point to prove and an opportunity to silence some of the critics.
