Nicolas Jackson didn’t even hesitate when asked if he’s excited to play against Chelsea in the Champions League

Nicolas Jackson has shared his verdict on the prospect of facing his parent club, Chelsea, in the Champions League with Bayern Munich.

Jackson was introduced off the bench in the 5-0 win against Hamburg as he made his Bundesliga debut following his deadline-day move.

Initially, Chelsea cancelled Jackson’s loan to Bayern Munich while the player was in Germany, following the long-term injury blow to Liam Delap.

The Blues eventually allowed the loan deal to proceed as planned and secured one of the largest loan agreements in history, with Bayern paying approximately £11.6 million to have Jackson for the season.

Now Chelsea will begin their 2025/26 Champions League campaign with a trip to the Allianz Arena, and the Senegalese international has revealed how he feels about the clash.

Nicolas Jackson is excited to play against Chelsea

When questioned by Bayern’s media team after the final whistle against Hamburg, Jackson responded “yeah, yeah” with no hesitation when asked whether he was excited about Wednesday’s clash.

Chelsea supporters are already furious with Jackson, after the forward overlooked his spell in West London when discussing the most important moment of his career so far.

And while he has a golden opportunity to win multiple trophies this season at the Allianz Arena, Jackson finds himself in a precarious situation.

Bayern president Uli Hoeneß revealed Jackson will definitely leave Germany at the end of his loan spell, before he had even stepped onto the pitch for the club.

Furthermore, he will find increased competition in the attacking department when he returns to Stamford Bridge after TBR Football confirmed Chelsea will sign Emanuel Emegha in 2026.

With no apparent long-term future at Bayern or Chelsea, it appears that Jackson will be playing his football in the hopes of attracting interest elsewhere this season.

How did Nicolas Jackson play on his Bayern Munich debut?

Although Jackson only played the second half on Sunday, his performance fell short of expectations, considering Bayern recorded a comfortable 5-0 victory.

Outside of completing 94% of his passes, he was barely involved for Bayern, and his display should offer encouragement to Chelsea fans that he will offer little threat in the Champions League.

With Harry Kane leading the line for Vincent Kompany’s side, it is likely Jackson will only be granted a small cameo if he is introduced onto the pitch.

But perhaps, after showing little influence in a one-sided contest, Kompany may very well leave Jackson in the dugout against his former club.
