What Thomas Frank intends to do with Luka Vuskovic after goal and assist masterclass in pre-season

Luka Vuskovic is the talk of the town at Tottenham Hotspur right now after his goals and assists against Reading.

The Tottenham Hotspur defender didn’t waste any time opening his account for the club with a goal and assist just eight minutes into his debut.

Tottenham consider Vuskovic a ‘top talent’ and will want to ensure they do the right thing for his development across the new season.

The North London club’s current plan for the young defender has just been revealed, and it might raise a few eyebrows in N17.

Tottenham currently plan to send Luka Vuskovic on loan

Current indications at Tottenham are that Luka Vuskovic will be sent out on loan, whilst Kota Takai will be kept around the first team, according to Alasdair Gold.

That decision might not be too popular with supporters, given the fact that the defender really impressed against Reading.

Vuskovic, who’s been called ‘unbelievable’, scored and assisted just eight minutes after coming on as a substitute at the Madejski Stadium.

Against the League One side, Vuskovic played alongside Micky van de Ven and looked very solid during his first game in Spurs colours.

Gold told Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham: “I do think it’s probably going to come down to those two. At the moment, the indications are that Takai will be one sticking around, and Vuskovic may be heading out on loan.

“Unless they decide to keep both until January and see how things are going, but that was quite a leap forward in terms of getting the fans behind him sticking around at Spurs.”

Takai only started training with Tottenham last week, so the Japanese international remained an unused sub against Reading.

Vuskovic has plenty of time to change Frank’s mind, and certainly, plans could change anyway, with the possibility of both staying until January.

Tottenham need to start offloading players, given how bloated their squad has become, so much so that on Saturday, they are due to play a doubleheader.

Luka Vuskovic impresses Tottenham staff in training

Vuskovic appeared to be impressing Tottenham’s coaching staff during the club’s latest training at Hotspur Way.

Frank’s staff could be heard shouting encouragement and praise towards the young Croat during a defensive drill.

Physically, the 18-year-old looks so impressive, but his ability to defend at the top level will be tested over the coming weeks.

Spurs face some challenging pre-season matches, including against the likes of AC Milan, Newcastle United and Arsenal.

Another solid indicator of the club’s current plans is whether he will face Wycombe Wanderers at Hotspur Way or Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.
