Trent Alexander-Arnold has been in the headlines quite a lot so far in 2025.
Real Madrid made an offer for Alexander-Arnold earlier this week as the Spanish giants try to land a new right-back.
Alexander-Arnold has been linked to Madrid for a long time now.
The defender’s contract is up in the summer, and a free transfer move at the end of the season has been suggested.
However, Madrid tried to accelerate that move this week with a January bid.
Speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Alex Crook has been discussing Madrid’s bid for Alexander-Arnold, and he says that sources close to the full-back have told him that he has no interest in leaving Liverpool in these circumstances in January.

What sources close to Trent Alexander-Arnold are saying
Crook shared what he’s been hearing from sources close to Alexander-Arnold.
The journalist says that Liverpool have no interest in selling Alexander-Arnold, while the player isn’t keen to leave before the end of the season either.
“Obviously, there’s talk in Spain that they’re going to formalise an offer of around 20 million pounds. Liverpool aren’t going to sell Trent Alexander-Arnold for 20 million pounds mid-season, not when they’re competing for the Premier League and for the Champions League. And from what I’m told by sources close to the player, he doesn’t want to leave in those circumstances either,” Crook said.
“If he does go, he wants to be at the end of the season, hopefully from him, his perspective in a blaze of glory. So I don’t see Trent leaving this month. And I think, actually, Real Madrid have been a little bit naughty with the way that they’ve conducted this so publicly when Liverpool and Trent are determined to try and keep it on the low.”
The other right-back Real Madrid are interested in
Real Madrid want a right-back through the door in January after Dani Carvajal’s injury.
Indeed, Madrid are very short in that position at the moment as Lucas Vasquez is now the de facto first-choice.
Alexander-Arnold is not attainable in this window, but Madrid do have their eyes on some other players.
Pedro Porro has been linked to Real Madrid recently, and that could be an interesting option given Spurs’ recent struggles and the fact that Porro is Spanish.
As for Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold’s departure hasn’t been confirmed yet, but Liverpool have been linked with Jeremie Frimpong as a potential replacement for the full-back.
Meanwhile, Martim Fernandes has been linked to Liverpool too in recent weeks.
Whether it’s this window or in the summer, there’s going to be a lot of movement on the right-back front in the near future at a number of elite clubs.
