Newcastle United have endured a really tough summer transfer window.
The Magpies have failed in a move to sign Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi after refusing to meet his £75m asking price.
It was suggested that they may not bring in another player before the deadline this evening but Daily Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards has now provided some optimism.

Newcastle still trying to bring one more player in
Edwards took to X and confirmed that Newcastle are still working on a deal to bring in a player before the deadline at 11pm.
He noted that it’s not a certainty that one comes through the door but the club do remain active in the market.
Newcastle are still interested in signing James Trafford and could make a last-minute bid to sign the Burnley goalkeeper.
Howe wants competition for Nick Pope and has been pursuing the England youth international for most of the window.
Newcastle should go back in for Trevoh Chalobah
Newcastle were linked with a move for Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah earlier this month and should consider a late move to sign him.
The Blues have made him available as he’s not part of Enzo Maresca’s plans, so it should be a fairly straightforward deal to do.
A telling few hours await on Tyneside.
