What Liverpool are planning to do with Darwin Nunez after reaching agreement for Juventus’ Federico Chiesa

Liverpool have left it late on in the window to bring in their first signing of the summer, but they have got there in the end.

Arne Slot may only have been in the job for around three months but his patience was surely tested as Liverpool struggled to find a breakthrough in the market.

However, the Reds have broken their duck with Giorgi Mamardashvili having been announced as a Liverpool player on Tuesday.

But the Georgia international is going to head immediately back out on loan to Valencia for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.

Having failed to sign Martin Zubimendi, Liverpool are still on the search for outfield players to bolster their squad ahead of Friday’s deadline.

Liverpool have now agreed a deal for Federico Chiesa from Juventus which could potentially see one of their other forwards now depart.

Liverpool could now sell £140k-per-week forward after landing Federico Chiesa deal

A busy end to the summer transfer window has been needed at Anfield to make up for their lack of business done to date.

Chiesa has now agreed to join Liverpool and the two clubs have agreed on a fee with an exciting attacking option headed to Merseyside.

But this could mean there is one player who now becomes surplus to requirements with Liverpool open to a sale.

According to Arsenal insider Team News and Tickets, Liverpool would be open to selling Darwin Nunez over the final days of the market amid links to the north London side.

“Liverpool would be happy for him to go, not to us [Arsenal]. They were hoping Atletico Madrid would go for him when they went for Julian Alvarez. I’m 99% sure there’s no interest from Arsenal,” he said speaking on Charles Watts’ YouTube channel.

“I do know that Liverpool would be happy to lose him, I’m not sure at what price.”

Darwin Nunez is not in Arne Slot’s Liverpool plans

Having arrived back later than most to Liverpool’s pre-season due to his Copa America commitments, Nunez has really struggled to make an impression at Anfield this season.

With a new manager now in the dugout, it looks as if the 25-year-old forward is failing to win over Slot.

Earning a reported wage of £140k-per-week, Nunez returned a solid 18 goals and 13 assists across all competitions last season.

So far this term, Nunez has only played 18 minutes across the opening two games of the season with the Uruguayan failing to even make it off the bench against Ipswich Town.

Even Jamie Carragher is sharing his concerns for Nunez under Slot with the early signs not looking overly positive.
