Giorgi Mamardashvili is apparently close to joining Liverpool from Valencia this summer.
Mamardashvili has reportedly agreed personal terms to sign for Liverpool, and, according to some, a deal isn’t far off being done.
However, as with any transfer story, there are conflicting reports emerging surrounding this situation.
Indeed, while some believe this deal is close, according to Luke Edwards, speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, sources from the Liverpool side of things are playing this one down.

What Liverpool are saying about Giorgi Mamardashvili
According to Edwards, Liverpool are playing down their links to the La Liga star.
“I’m a bit wary of it. Do Liverpool need to spend this amount on a goalkeeper this summer? I think there has been talk that if he came he would go out on loan. I think it has been played down a little bit from the Liverpool end,” Edwards said.
Liverpool keeping things quiet
Liverpool are playing down their links to Mamardashvili, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a deal isn’t on.
Indeed, the Reds are famous for playing their cards close to their chest in the transfer window, and that may be exactly what they’re doing with Mamardashvili here.
Liverpool like to keep things quiet right up until the last minute in order to avoid the chance of any hijacks or any outside influences affecting this deal.
Unfortunately for the Merseyside club, the cat seems to be out of the bag with this one.
It’s already been widely reported that Mamardashvili is close to joining Liverpool. and that surprise factor around this transfer is well and truly gone.
Whether or not Liverpool get this deal done remains to be seen, but, for now, sources at Anfield don’t appear to be too confident about this one getting over the line just yet.
This is certainly a situation to keep a close eye on.
