TBR Football have now received information on Jose Mourinho as managerial uncertainty grows at both West Ham and Nottingham Forest.

Evangelos Marinakis could sack Nuno Espirito Santo due to disagreements over the style of play at Nottingham Forest – with Ange Postecoglou a potential replacement.

West Ham are also unsure about Graham Potter after a dismal start to the 2025/26 campaign, which has left the Hammers bottom of the Premier League.

Should either Nottingham Forest or West Ham opt to make a change in the dugout, an interesting option could emerge as TBR Football understand Jose Mourinho wants a return to the Premier League.

Exclusive: Jose Mourinho is targeting a return to England

Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent for TBR Football – has now been told that the man born in Setubal has ambitions of managing in the Premier League once again.

Mourinho can boast 217 wins from his 363 Premier League outings across spells at Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham – impressively averaging 2.02 points per game and losing just 62 of these matches.

Bailey states: “Jose Mourinho wants to come back to England, he has an ambition to come back to the Premier League. I can confirm that, as it stands, he has not spoken with any clubs about a return – be it Nottingham Forest or West Ham.

“However, with Jose on the market, it certainly throws up an intriguing prospect for any Premier League chairman.”

Jose Mourinho has already indicated he might prefer West Ham if a choice does arise

Back in October, the 62-year-old suggested he is fed up with UEFA competitions, and would be interested in taking over an English side without that responsibility at his next job.

Mourinho – who shocked Marcus Rashford at Manchester United – said: “The best thing I have to do is, when I leave Fenerbahce, I go to a club that doesn’t play UEFA competitions. So you find a club in England from the bottom of the table, needs a coach in two years, I am ready to go.”

Nottingham Forest are involved in the UEFA Europa League this season, although after a tough 2024/25 campaign which saw West Ham finish 14th, there is no European football at the London Stadium.

Mourinho later joked he has no interest in any relegation battles, although West Ham are strong enough not to get dragged into such a situation with the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and El Hadji Malick Diouf in the squad.
