Federico Chiesa attracted attention from several different sides this summer but he ended up choosing a move to Liverpool.
The Reds announced the arrival of the 26-year-old winger on Thursday afternoon. He becomes Liverpool‘s second signing of the summer, although £30m signing Giorgi Mamardashvili is not scheduled to join up with the squad until next summer.
Liverpool have paid just £11million for Chiesa, despite Juventus paying £42million for his signature in 2022.
Chiesa is set to earn £115,000 per week at Anfield – similar to his earnings in Turin, making it an overall bargain for Liverpool and Arne Slot.
Tottenham and Arsenal had shown an interest in Chiesa this summer, while Barcelona were also plotting a move for him.
But Federico Chiesa ultimately chose to join Liverpool and it might have been a decision that was influenced by his father.

Federico Chiesa’s father comments on Liverpool move
A move to Liverpool and the Premier League is appealing to any footballer, but snubbing interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and Barcelona to join a new project under Slot is a bold decision.
After completing his £11m move, Chiesa has revealed what his father said to him after hearing that Liverpool were interested in signing him.
“I told my father Enrico about Liverpool bid… he said immediately: GO!” Chiesa said.
“As soon as I told him Liverpool he said go, it’s the best choice for your career”.
Federico Chiesa could thrive under Slot
Chiesa was often asked to fill in a defensive role in Juventus with the Italian side taking advantage of his superb work-rate.

But his offensive stats are as good as anyone’s in Liverpool’s ranks and he suits Slot’s controlled yet direct style of play.
Chiesa has his work cut out for him to push ahead of the likes of Luis Diaz for a starting spot, but once given an opportunity he could thrive under the Dutchman.
