Riccardo Calafiori to Arsenal is still expected to go ahead.
Calafiori is expected to become an Arsenal player at some point, but, at the moment, progress on this deal appears to have slowed down.
Indeed, communication between Bologna and Arsenal is at a standstill at the moment, and as we get closer and closer to the beginning of the season, decisions need to be made.
Interestingly, according to The Guardian, Bologna have now made a request to Calafiori ahead of the new season.

Bologna ask Riccardo Calafiori to return to training
According to The Guardian, Riccardo Calafiori has been asked to return to pre-season training ahead of the start of the new season.
The Italian has been on a break after Euro 2024, but now, the Serie A club want him to report back and join up with the rest of the squad.
Calafiori had hoped to be an Arsenal player by now. The defender agreed terms with the Gunners two weeks ago, but, unfortunately, things haven’t moved as promptly as they perhaps should have.
Calafiori training return is normal
Calafiori will return to training with Bologna next week, but that doesn’t mean this deal is dead by any stretch of the imagination.
You see this every year where a player returns to train with their club for a matter of days or weeks before making their long-awaited transfer.
In fact, in certain cases, players will even play in friendly matches, or, if the negotiations drag on long enough, they could even play the opening game of the season.
Hopefully, Arsenal will have this one tied up sooner rather than later, but, for now, it seems as though it’s going to be business as usual for Calafiori and Bologna until a breakthrough is made in negotiations with Arsenal.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on in the coming days.
