Riccardo Calafiori to Arsenal is dragging on and on.
It’s been two weeks since it was reported that Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Riccardo Calafiori, but, in recent times, there has been a lack of news.
Indeed, it has been reported that Arsenal haven’t spoken to Bologna about Calafiori for a few days now, while there have been suggestions that there’s a snag in the deal.
However, according to Dean Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, this deal is stll very much on, claiming that he was told last night that the deal is still on and Arsenal aren’t worried about this at all.

Arsenal not worried about Riccardo Calafiori deal
Jones shared what he’s been told about Riccardo Calafiori.
“I spoke to someone last night and asked if this deal is still going through and he said ‘yeah, we’re not worried about this.’ Maybe it’s just a negotiation factor and details around the fee. I expect a proper update on Calafiori on Friday,’ Jones said.
“The contact seemed so confident that it felt like something is imminent in terms of progress. Based on the conversation I had I’m going to say Calafiori and Arsenal will have some sort of news around it on Friday.”
Riccardo Calafiori deal has to hurry up
Calafiori to Arsenal seems to still be on the cards, but this deal does need to hurry up now.
Pre-season is now underway, and while players who were at Euro 2024 aren’t back yet, it won’t be long before they’re in the swing of things.
If Calafiori is to move to Arsenal, he needs to be given a decent pre-season to bed in with his new teammates and understand the intricacies of Mikel Arteta’s style of play.
Arsenal are still on track to get this deal done, but there would be no harm in hurrying things up and getting this one over the line promptly.
