Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League fate will be decided next week when they play Olympique Marseille.
Spurs thought they’d dramatically won the match in the final moments when Harry Kane bundled the ball over the line.
However, Kane was adjudged to have been offside when the £25.8m man Emerson Royal headed the ball.
The VAR took minutes to finally make a decision before eventually ruling out Tottenham’s winner.
It was an incredibly frustrating end to a match Tottenham would have expected to win given the control they had.

However, when they were throwing men forward at the end of the game, they didn’t always make the best decision.
Royal attempted to play a no-look pass down the by-line to substitute Bryan Gil in the final few minutes.
However, his pass was overhit and ran out for a goal kick.
Conte reacted to Royal’s pass by pointing to his head with both hands, telling Emerson to think before trying to play these passes.
Royal’s poor pass only added to the frustration Conte felt at the full-time whistle.
Conte’s reaction to Royal’s poor pass
Emerson Royal may not be Conte’s first choice right wing-back anymore given his selection decisions today.
Conte awarded Matt Doherty the first Champions League start of his career last night, after impressing in the league since replacing Royal.
Royal was sent off against Arsenal in the north London derby and relinquished his starting role while suspended.
Jamie O’Hara subsequently called him a ‘liability’ and said he costs his side every week.
It was always going to be difficult to break back into the squad given the level of competition he’s up against.

Doherty was fantastic towards the end of last season before picking up a serious injury.
Tottenham also signed Djed Spence in the summer, although Conte hasn’t given him the opportunity to prove himself yet.
Conte’s reaction to Royal’s pass shows his frustration with some of the Brazilian’s decision making.
However, it is a positive sign that he’s brought him on when Tottenham are chasing the game.
