Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been speaking to the club’s official website and singled out Matt Doherty after ‘fantastic’ displays in the last two Premier League games.
Doherty returned to the Spurs XI last night as Antonio Conte’s men beat Everton 2-0 in north London.
The 30-year-old put in another promising display from right wing-back in the absence of Emerson Royal, who’s serving a suspension after his red card against Arsenal.
Doherty had struggled to break back into the side after suffering a knee injury at Villa Park last season. But he was in brilliant form before the injury setback and now he seems to be getting back to his best.
And Kane was full of praise for the Irishman after last night’s win over Everton.

Kane singles out Doherty
Speaking to Spurs Play, Kane was asked about Doherty’s performance against the Toffees at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“Really happy for him. He’s been waiting for his opportunity since he got injured last season, he’s had to be patient this year – biding his time and working hard,” Kane said.
“We’ve got good competition for places. He’s come in and I think he’s been fantastic in the two games he’s played, delighted for him.
“I know him really well and I know how much he wants to do well and how much he’s been working behind the scenes.
“That’ll only give him confidence, it’ll give the team and manager confidence. It’s really good to have a lot of players playing well.”

Doherty provided a real threat down the right-hand side and now looks to be getting back to his best after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Conte has favoured Emerson Royal over the Irishman and Djed Spence this season. But the Brazilian’s suspension has given Doherty a much-needed chance to prove he’s ready to start once again.
The Republic of Ireland international certainly provides more of an attacking threat than Royal and seems more suited to the wing-back role.
Doherty will be hoping he can continue to impress and nail down a starting place while Royal is suspended.
