Emerson Royal might not have played for Tottenham this evening but that didn’t stop Jamie O’Hara ripping into him this weekend.
Spurs were without Royal for the trip to Brighton, with the returning Matt Doherty selected instead. The Irishman will be hoping to cement his cement his place in the XI from now with Royal out suspended.

And pulling no punches before the game against Brighton, former Spurs midfielder O’Hara slammed the Brazilian and insisted he’d pay for someone to take him off Tottenham’s hands.
“I would pay someone to take him of our hands. I ain’t got a lot in my bank but I’d give you £5m to get rid of this liability, because he is costing us every week,” O’Hara told TalKSPORT.
“Doherty, please get back fit. Djed Spence, what did we pay for him, £15m? Get him in the team. Conte, I don’t know why you keep putting your neck on the chopping block for this geezer, it’s like having Aurier.”
Royal had previously spoken of his desire to impress Conte and he’s even spent a fortune on items outside of Tottenham training to improve. However, his red card at Arsenal last week might well have put an end to his chances of regular football this season.
TBR’s View: Royal Faces Long Way To Tottenham
The red card for Royal last weekend was the worst thing that could have happened and with Doherty playing well this evening as well, he faces a long way back.
As we know, O’Hara never holds back in his criticisms when he has a bee in his bonnet and he’s been more than straight to the point here.
Conte obviously thinks different of Emerson. But it will be interesting to see if the Italian puts him back in at any point in the coming weeks.
