Weston McKennie is dreaming about joining Tottenham - journalist

Tottenham Hotspur have long been linked with a move to sign Juventus star Weston McKennie, and Italian journalist Ciro Venerato has shared the latest on the situation.

Antonio Conte’s side are looking for reinforcements in this month’s transfer window, and an attack-minded midfielder capable of carrying the ball into the opposition third would make Spurs a much better team.

USMNT’s World Cup star McKennie, who has been branded as an ‘extraordinary’ player, would be a very good signing.

Tottenham need to strengthen their side in multiple areas of the pitch.

Their attack is excellent with Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison, while young Bryan Gil has impressed too since the turn of the year.

However, every other position in the side could do with an upgrade – especially midfield where Spurs only have players who excel in sitting back and protecting the backline.

A box-to-box midfielder who can create and score goals would take Spurs to a whole new level, and McKennie has been a name on Fabio Paratici’s radar for a while now.

Venerato has claimed that the American would love to join Spurs this month.

Speaking on 1 Football Club on 1 Station Radio, as relayed by TuttoJuve, the journalist said: “As far as the January market is concerned, the club (Juventus) will tend to sell because it would like to raise cash.

“First with McKennie. He dreams of Tottenham, but there are currently only offers from lower Premier League clubs.”

TBR View:

McKennie is definitely one to keep an eye on this month.

The American had a splendid World Cup in Qatar for the USMNT, impressing in midfield alongside Arsenal old-boy Yunus Musah and Leeds United star Tyler Adams.

He showed his quality on the biggest stage, and under the right manager and around excellent players, he could really fulfil the potential he once showed at Schalke.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out, but if Venerato is to be believed, McKennie would join Spurs tomorrow if he could.
