Paratici thinks Spurs target Weston McKennie is a superstar - journalist

Alasdair Gold has told his YouTube channel that Fabio Paratici thinks that Weston McKennie is a superstar and did not rule Tottenham Hotspur making a future move for the midfielder.

McKennie is attracting attention after a superb display for the USMNT in their World Cup stalemate with England at the World Cup on Friday.

Certainly, one club who will have had their eye on his performance will have been Tottenham. Spurs have been linked with the Juventus midfielder on several occasions.

Paratici thinks McKennie is a superstar

In fact, reports from Calciomercato last week suggested that both Antonio Conte and Paratici are fans of the 24-year-old. Juve meanwhile, are prepared to let him go for around £26 million.

Tottenham appear to be well-stocked in the middle of the park. They still have Oliver Skipp and Yves Bissouma awaiting a prolonged chance in the team this season.

Nevertheless, Gold would clearly not be surprised to see Spurs make a move for McKennie. And it will be Paratici driving their interest in the American given how highly he rates the youngster.

“You’ll have heard me say this way back in videos a year ago, Fabio Paratici adores Weston McKennie. He brought him to Juventus from Schalke. Honestly, he thinks he’s a superstar,” he told his YouTube channel.

“I wouldn’t rule out Tottenham continuing to look at him. He’s a good player, got a great engine. Box to box, very versatile as well.

“Keep an eye on that one is probably the best thing I’d say about that. Paratici will keep pushing his merits constantly.”

It would be interesting to see how Conte would use McKennie if Tottenham did make a move. You would assume that they would look to play three in the middle of the park – unless one of their current midfielders moves on.

Spurs fans may be a little confused if they do sign McKennie. There are other areas which require more urgent attention. And it is probably fair to say that McKennie’s time in Turin has been mixed.

So it says a lot about how far he can go that Paratici thinks that he could be a superstar. If that is the case, he is surely not going to miss out on the chance to sign him again.
