West Ham to make move for £25m French defender if Nayef Aguerd leaves

West Ham United are plotting their moves ahead of January and could now make a move for defender, Dan-Axel Zagadou.

The Hammers are believed to be looking at ways of moving their squad about, with experienced striker Michail Antonio among those who could leave.

Should Antonio leave, a new forward will be needed. However, it is also in defence where David Moyes is plotting some changes.

According to a report from The Sun, West Ham are plotting a move for Stuttgart defender Zagadou, if they can move on Nayef Aguerd. The report claims the Hammers are open to offers for Aguerd, who only joined the club in 2022 for around £30m.

West Ham to move for Dan-Axel Zagadou

Of course, it’s not brand new hearing the Hammers being keen on Zagadou.

Only last week, the defender was mentioned as someone David Moyes likes the look of and it will now be interesting to see if he can indeed move Aguerd on.

In regards to Zagadou, the Hammers would be getting a big defender on their hands who is doing well with an in-form Stuttgart side this year.

Listed on Wiki as being 6ft 5″, Zagadou is certainly no slouch and would add yet more height and presence to the West Ham defender.

Zagadou has been linked with a move to England for some time now. Reports going all the way back to 2021 even suggested he was someone Arsenal wanted.

Moyes will need to wheel and deal

The sheer fact it suggests the sale of Aguerd is what will enable this deal for Zagadou suggests that Moyes will have to move things about this January if he wants new faces.

To be fair, Moyes has been backed in recent windows. The Hammers spent north of £100m again in the summer.

Quite whether Moyes ever gets that sort of money again with bringing much back in, remains to be seen.
