West Ham make enquiry to sign Lionel Messi’s £14m teammate who wants to leave

West Ham United have now sent an enquiry for an audacious move to sign one of Lionel Messi’s teammates at Inter Miami.

So far it’s been a very encouraging start for the Julen Lopetegui era working alongside Tim Steidten.

Max Kilman should prove to be an excellent addition and Lopetegui has already been very positive about Luis Guilherme too.

In addition, the club have recouped respectable fees for Flynn Downes, Said Benrahma and Thilo Kehrer.

However, in a summer in which Loptegui wanted West Ham to make up to eight signings, there’s still much work to do.

And in addition to signing a new centre-forward, it seems as if Steidten is also aiming to improve Lopetegui’s options in the middle.

As according to GiveMeSport, West Ham have now sent an enquiry to Inter Miami to sign 21-year-old Diego Gomez.

The offensive-minded Paraguayan has made 12 MLS appearances so far this season scoring three goals and providing three assists.

Although, if West Ham are to sign the midfielder, they’ll seemingly face stiff competition from Brighton & Hove Albion.

West Ham submit enquiry for Brighton-bound Diego Gomez

Journalist Ben Jacobs was partly behind the story, and stated that West Ham had made an enquiry for Gomez when sharing the news on X.

However, the story as a whole detailed that Brighton were near to completing a £14m deal for Gomez, who is set to feature for his country at the Paris Olympics.

Talks are said to be ‘well advanced’ between Brighton and Miami for Gomez, who is said to be personally pushing to leave.

The report entails that West Ham are interested in the player and have submitted an enquiry as said, but the east Londoners never sent a formal bid.

Therefore, if Gomez’s proposed move to Brighton isn’t completed then perhaps the Hammers could steal in for the youngster who can also thrive on the wing.

Should Gomez leave David Beckham’s team, he would be among the top 10 most expensive outbound transfers in MLS history – a tribute to the youngster’s ability.

That being said, West Ham are also said to be interested in a deal for Johan Vasquez, another South American talent.
