West Ham United could sign one of the best passers in Europe this summer transfer window.

The Hammers have added Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham and Max Kilman to their ranks this summer and they aren’t prepared to rest on their laurels.

Newly-appointed manager Julen Lopetegui is still keen to add new profiles to his squad as he looks to move towards a possesion-based style of play.

With that said, it has just emerged, that West Ham could sign another left-footed defender to add depth in Kilman’s position whilst a midfielder is also a target.

West Ham interested in signing Johan Vasquez

According to 365 scores, Genoa centre-back Johan Vasquez, who has been labelled as ‘dominant’ per The Athletic, is a real option for West Ham United this summer.

The Hammers admire the 25-year-old, though, they aren’t alone in their interest, as Inter Milan and another Premier League club keep tabs.

Vasquez’s performances for Genoa have put a trio of clubs on red alert and it’s claimed he could cost as little as £8.4m, per Football Italia.

West Ham have been in direct contact with his representatives and has already given the green light to a potential move to East London.

There is an understanding that a bid could arrive soon.

Johan Vasquez statistics

Vasquez’s FBref statistics make for very impressive reading.

The left-footed defender ranks in the top 18 per cent for blocks per 90 compared to his positional peers across Europe.

Further, he sits in the top 16 per cent for shot-creating actions, evincing his playmaking abilities from deep.

If West Ham do land Vazquez’s signature this summer, it’d be a really shrewd acquisition.
