West Ham looking at re-signing Craig Dawson

West Ham United have compiled a list of central defenders who could come and help them bolster their options in the latter half of the season.

Whilst a new striker remains the priority for The Hammers before the window closes, but they also need to bolster their defensive options.

TBR Football’s Graeme Bailey understands that one of the names that has emerged former Hammer, Craig Dawson.

Dawson’s current club, Wolves, have already brought in Emmanuel Agbadou but want another and they have turned to Udinese’s Thomas Kristensen as a deal for Lens’ Kevin Danso has stalled.

With that, Wolves would be open to allowing Dawson to leave and West Ham are considering him as an option.

Dawson left West Ham in 2023 following two-and-half hugely successful years in South London to move further north, but he could consider a brief return to help out his former club.

West Ham have been beset with injuries in recent weeks and for their draw at Aston Villa they had just one fit central defender.

We can also reveal that Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof has been considered, but a deal for him would be difficult.

Likewise Newcastle’s Lloyd Kelly is another option, but he is the subject of interest from Juventus and Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle would demand a large fee to sell Kelly.

Brighton’s Adam Webster is also being looked at the Seagulls could be open to a deal as they have agreed terms with Derby for Eiran Cashin.

Craig Dawson stats from first West Ham spell

Dawson could be set for a remarkable return to West Ham, and this is a move that fans may well greet with open arms.

Indeed, Dawson was a fan favourite during his first spell at West Ham, and for good reason.

Dawson played with so much heart and passion for the Hammers that he immediately endeared himself to the fanbase.

On top of that, the centre-back also had a very good record for the club.

Of course, a no-nonsense centre-back like Dawson isn’t quite the type of player you’d associate with Graham Potter’s style of play, but as a short-term reinforcement, you can’t really go wrong with signing a player with this much experience who knows the club well.

Dawson was sold for £3m when West Ham let him go to Wolves, and he could now be set for a return to east London.
