Giorgi Mamardashvili could be Liverpool’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
The Georgian goalkeeper has been strongly linked with the Reds.
Mamardashvili is said to have agreed personal terms with Liverpool, and a deal is thought to be close.
However, according to James Savundra, speaking on Sky Sports News, the Mamardashvili deal may not be as cut and dry as some would have you believe.
Indeed, according to the journalist, this deal isn’t as close as some think, claiming that a lot of the reporting around the Valencia star is premature.
Mamardashvili to Liverpool isn’t close
Savundra shared an update on the goalkeeper.
“Liverpool are exploring what a deal could look like for Georgia international goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, but we understand that reports that a deal is close are premature,” Savundra said.

Mamardashvili deal can move slowly
If there’s any deal in this transfer market that doesn’t need to move quickly, it’s this one.
Liverpool’s plan with Mamardashvili is to loan him out straight away in any case, so the Reds can take their time to negotiate this deal.
Even if this one has to be revisited in January or next summer, it’s not the end of the world.
Liverpool have bigger transfer priorities they need to address.
Indeed, the Reds need a new defensive midfield player, and after Liverpool were rejected by Martin Zubimendi, they still have a lot of work to do on that front.
Mamardashvili to Liverpool is a deal that can very much be put on the backburner, but the Reds do need to get a move on if they want to make this transfer window a success.
Indeed, Liverpool remain the only team in the Premier League who are yet to make a signing, and that’s something that needs to change if the Reds are to win the league this season.
