Liverpool are set to have their biggest transfer deadline day of all time.
The Reds have already had a massive window. They have smashed their transfer record to sign Florian Wirtz, while other big-money signings include Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, and Jeremie Frimpong.
TBR Football can confirm that Alexander Isak will join Liverpool in a £125 million deal before the deadline, while work is being done to bring Marc Guehi to Anfield as well.
The focus is on those deals right now, but there could be one major outgoing too. Virgil van Dijk, however, is hoping this doesn’t happen.
Virgil van Dijk says he doesn’t want Liverpool to sell Joe Gomez on deadline day
Joe Gomez has been a loyal servant for Liverpool since 2015.
The England international has produced several brilliant performances for the Reds over the years. Jurgen Klopp even called Gomez ‘exceptional’, but he is slowly falling down the pecking order.
Ibrahima Konate is already ahead of him, while Guehi will also be picked over him in the heart of the defence.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Gomez is ‘likely’ to join AC Milan if Guehi ends up at Liverpool, but Van Dijk does not want his good pal to leave.
However, the Liverpool skipper admitted that he is not the boss and anything can happen on deadline day.
Van Dijk said, as per Sky Sports: “Of course (I want him to stay), he’s my friend!
“But it doesn’t work like that. I’m not the boss; this isn’t a friendly business. Let’s see what happens. Of course, I want him to stay, as a friend and as a player.”

Should Joe Gomez stay at Liverpool?
Gomez is in a difficult position right now.
On one hand, the Englishman can stay at Liverpool and continue to challenge for the biggest trophies. However, he will not play every game.
The other option would be to pursue a move where he will be a guaranteed starter. That will not just solve his game time issues, but it could also boost his chances of making it into the England World Cup squad next year.
It will be a difficult decision for Gomez to leave Liverpool, but we think it’s time for him to make that tough call in the coming hours.
