'Very good': Victor Orta has now lauded Euro 2020 player who was linked with Leeds in May after PL spell
Victor Orta has suggested that he was impressed by Okay Yokuslu while the reported Leeds United target was on loan last season, but admitted it may be difficult to sign the midfielder – in comments to Ao Contraataque, as reported by Leeds Live.
Yokuslu was one of a handful of West Brom players who emerged from last season with real credit. The Turkey international did well following his loan switch in January.
Unfortunately, the Baggies were unable to keep themselves in the Premier League. And that has seemingly opened the door for a number of other sides.
Leeds are one of those who have previously been linked. However, with the links seemingly going quiet in recent weeks, fans would be forgiven for wondering how keen the Whites actually are.
Interestingly though, Orta has now commented on the Celta Vigo star. He did suggest that it would be tough to land Yokuslu. But he did also praise him.
“It is politically difficult for Leeds to sign Okay [Yokuslu]. For me he had about six very good months, in a very difficult place. I personally liked it,” he said, as reported by Leeds Live.
“Celta has a general manager who is the best in Spain. If not the best, he is among the three best in Spain and even in Europe.”
Yokuslu could be a shrewd addition for Leeds, but would deal be worth the hassle amid Orta comments?
Leeds do arguably need more depth in the middle of the park. And it was recently claimed that Orta has held talks with a key target.
Yokuslu arguably has the potential to be a shrewd signing for the Whites. He did do extremely well while at the Hawthorns.
However, Orta’s comments hint that any side looking to do a deal would not find it easy.
It therefore, surely makes more sense to pursue other targets.
Perhaps it will be easier to lure him away from Celta later in the window. But for now, Leeds may find it more fruitful to look elsewhere.
