Report: Orta has spoken to player about signing for Leeds

Leeds United fans have been given an exciting transfer update, with the Yorkshire Evening Post reporting that Victor Orta has initially spoken to a player as the Whites look at signing their top midfield target.

Marcelo Bielsa’s squad is starting to take shape for the coming season. Jack Harrison has completed a permanent move. Junior Firpo meanwhile, has arrived from Barcelona.

Amari Miller has also arrived to strengthen the under-23 ranks.

And it seems that Orta’s focus is now on landing the central midfielder Bielsa’s squad appears to need.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, a pursuit is in its very early stages. But it is claimed that Orta has spoken to the player Leeds want.

It is noted that speculation could now go quiet for a while with discussions not at an advanced stage.

Leeds fans likely to be extremely excited about potential midfield signing after Firpo deal

Orta has been lauded for the work he has done for much of his tenure. Leeds have operated extremely well in the transfer market in recent years.

Of course, he has not got everything right. The remaining scars of his first summer window at Elland Road can arguably only start to heal now following the recent departure of Ouasim Bouy.

But Orta has done some amazing work. And the move for Firpo looks to be a huge coup for the Whites.

That deal will certainly ensure that excitement levels go through the roof when the signing of a midfielder edges closer.

Based on reports, it will be some time before Leeds have anything to announce – and that is assuming this pursuit goes well.

But the reports are positive. And having already landed someone of Firpo’s stature, Leeds fans will be optimistic that Orta can get a move across the line for his latest target.
