TBR Football understands that Aston Villa are really happy with the transfer business they achieved toward the end of the window, particularly with signing Jadon Sancho.
Sancho, who spent last season at Chelsea, joined Villa on a loan deal from Manchester United, with the West Midlands club paying a loan fee and 80 per cent of his wages.
Manchester United hold an option for a further year on Sancho’s contract, which is currently in its final year.
Villa had been quite worried going into the final day of the transfer window due to being short in the attacking areas of the pitch, but they are pleased with the business they ended up doing.
Bringing in Sancho and Harvey Elliott from Liverpool has proven to be a big boost to the squad. Villa now have more depth in the final third of the pitch, and both these versatile players have been a big help.

Exclusive: Aston Villa believe they can get the best out of Jadon Sancho
Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent for TBR Football – has been told that Villa believe they can get the best out of Sancho as a player, despite his struggles at Manchester United.
Bailey states: “Villa are said to be very happy they signed the winger, and it will be interesting to see how things play out with his parent club.
“They still have an option to buy, and if Sancho ends up being the best winger in the Premier League come January, there’s a fair chance they will take that. “
Sancho had a solid season at Chelsea throughout the 2024-25 campaign, and while he didn’t set the world alight, the Blues did try to sign him permanently.
| Jadon Sancho stats (2024-25) | Games Played | Goals | Assists | Minutes Played |
| Premier League | 31 | 3 | 5 | 1,765′ |
| Europa Conference League | 8 | 2 | 5 | 535′ |
| FA Cup | 2 | – | – | 119′ |
Chelsea discussed making Sancho’s move permanent, but they were unable to reach an agreement that would fit the club’s wage structure.
Jadon Sancho reveals why he chose Aston Villa
TBR Football previously revealed how Marcus Rashford helped convince Sancho to join Villa, based on his loan experience at the club last season.
Now the winger has spoken to Sky Sports about the role that Emery himself had in convincing him after offers from Roma and Napoli didn’t work out due to wage demands.
“When I spoke to the manager, he gave me the belief and confidence. He showed me the plan he had of achieving this year, and they really inspired me.
“He definitely persuaded me, and I can’t wait to work under him.”
Now it just remains to be seen whether or not Emery can genuinely get the best out of the 25-year-old.
