Tottenham Hotspur fans have been given to already get excited about the future transfer windows, with the Evening Standard reporting today that Spurs want Jan Oblak.

Hugo Lloris has been superb this season. But Antonio Conte’s men are surely making the right call in keeping one eye on players who could potentially succeed the Frenchman in North London.

Lloris has been such an incredible servant that he will leave a huge void. So it is little surprise that Tottenham are looking at one of the finest goalkeepers around today.

‘He would be unbelievable’

The Evening Standard has claimed that Spurs have sounded out Oblak about a potential move. Atletico Madrid are open to letting him go. And they are not looking for anything like the £107 million fee that would trigger his release clause.

The 29-year-old has been one of the best around for many years now. So if the door is open, Tottenham are absolutely right to try and get a deal done.

Certainly, one player who would be delighted to see Oblak at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would be Kieran Trippier.

Trippier played with Oblak with Atleti. And he claimed in February that he is perfect for the English game.

“The number of points he saved us and his shot-stopping is probably the best in the world, for sure,” he told Five Live (via HITC).

“I am really surprised [no one has signed Oblak]. He is one of the best keepers in the world. I think he would be unbelievable in the Premier League. Obviously, who could he go to, that’s the question?

“I have had conversations with him about the Premier League. He has always asked me questions. Of course, I would love to see him in the Premier League.”

Whoever replaces Lloris is going to be under plenty of pressure upon their arrival. He has been one of the Premier League’s best over the last decade. And of course, he is Spurs’ captain.

It would be a risk to turn to someone such as Illan Meslier, who is still learning. The Athletic reported that Spurs are very keen on the youngster.

Oblak however, would likely be extremely comfortable with the pressure. And the best years may actually still be ahead of him.

He could definitely be a game-changing signing if Spurs could go on and do a deal.
