Ivan Toney is making plenty of headlines ahead of the January transfer window.
The England international’s ban is set to end next month, but it’s not a return to Brentford that is on everyone’s mind right now.
Indeed, with many top clubs needing a striker, Toney continues to be linked with a number of Premier League sides.
Arsenal and Chelsea have been looking at Toney for quite some time now, and according to The Independent, Tottenham are also very keen on the striker.
Unfortunately though, it doesn’t look as though this deal is going to go ahead.

Indeed, according to this report, while Tottenham would love to sign Toney, they won’t be able to afford this move and are likely to have to look at younger options.
Toney is valued at £60m and after spending a hefty amount in the summer, Spurs are stretched in terms of what they can do in January.
Spurs will have to look at younger options, and it’s unclear which sort of players they will be looking at here.
Santi Gimenez has been linked as of late, while Gift Orban was a target in the summer, so perhaps those are two players to keep an eye on.
As for Toney, it would appear that a January move elsewhere could be on the cards, The Independent claim that Brentford are now more open to a sale after playing so well without him over the past six months, and given that he’s entering the final 18 months of his deal now, this would be the optimum time to cash-in on the striker.
Tottenham will have to pass up on this deal due to the finances involved, and that’s a real shame as Toney looked as though he could be a fantastic replacement for Harry Kane after the striker departed for Bayern Munich this summer.
Where Spurs turn next remains to be seen.
